Richard Berkley, Executive Director of the Public Utility Law Project (PULP) of New York, will present a training on utility consumers' rights o n May 21, 2019 in Massena. The training is intended for anyone who works with consumers facing disconnect notices, late bills, or other issues that may negatively impact their ability to get or maintain electric, gas, telephone, and other utility services. This training applies to National Grid and St. Lawrence Gas Customers, who have consumer protections under New York State's Home Energy Fair Practices Act. Massena Electric Customers have different rights under the law, which will not be the focus of this specific training. Those working for nonprofits, community based organizations, churches, schools, constituent relations staff of elected officials, and civil services attorneys are particularly encouraged to attend.
